Middle Aged Matrons

I recently picked up this great Eugene McCarthy bumper sticker. It was issued by the Benton Co. Committee for McCarthy. Middle Aged Matrons for McCarthy. I'm still trying to track down what Middle Aged Matrons is a reference to at the moment.

Another great Oregon item found! Special thanks to my friend Margaret who's sister found it in a box in Seattle and brought it back down with her this summer for me.

Blaine Whipple Remembered

Whipple meeting JFK
Blaine Whipple probably isn't a household name to many today. If you lived in Washington County 40 years ago, you probably would have known it. He was a State Senator that represented the Beaverton area. Twice he ran for Congress in the 1960s. He was Chair of the Washington County Democrats, an Executive Director of the state Democratic party, and member of the DNC. He served in various other elected positions in Washington County during the 80s and 90s.

Tom McCall Dress from 1970

Dress Found on Ebay this week
Sometimes us Oregon political junkies have to wait and wait...and wait for an interesting Oregon item to find its way to ebay. If you are a regular searcher of Oregon related political figures then you have probably seen this item. It is a paper dress from his re-election campaign in 1970. Paper clothing items were cheap and very popular in the 1960s. It was seen as sort of a fashion novelty and lots of campaigns used them in an attempt to boost their vote getting abilities.
